Nathan has wide musical interests spanning early music
through Classical and Romantic to 20th Century. He learned
piano from an early age before studying Trumpet and French
Horn (French Horn players make the best conductors apparently).
More recently he has developed an interest in conducting.
He participated in the ABC's Symphony Australia, Young Conductors
Program. Nathan is currently studying French Horn and Conducting
at the Unversity of Queensland.

Marissa has been playing mandolin since 2002, and started
her musical career as a guitarist, like her Dad. She finds
the mandolin a very satisfying instrument that can cover
many musical genre, and she particularly enjoys playing
solos and small ensemble pieces from the classical mandolin
repertoire.
To assist in her musical development Marissa has commenced
violin lessons, and strongly believes that the inventor
of the violin should have included frets!!! |

Willi Green
and
Anne Roubos

Sisters Willi Green (principal 1st mandolin and leader)
and Anne Roubos (principal mandola) were both taught the
mandolin at a very young age by their Dad (Wim Zaunbrecher)
who also started the first mandolin orchestra in Victoria.
Originally playing in the Geelong Mandolin Ensemble Anne
and Willi joined the Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra and participated
in two wonderful overseas tours to Spain, France, Belgium,
Germany etc.)
Heeding the call of sunny Queensland, the two sisters were
instrumental (no pun intended) in founding "Mandolins
in Brisbane" in 1998 together with 5 others from which
humble beginnings MIB is now rated as Brisbane's premier
mandolin ensemble. Anne continued with her Dad's teaching
traditions and has a ball with the two training ensembles
on Monday and Thursday evenings where everybody has a frustratingly
fantastic time. |

It all started back in Sydney in 1975 when Lyn was given
a mandolin as a gift after expressing an interest in the
'curious little instrument'. She took lessons and then became
involved/caught up with 3 different mandolin ensembles.
In 2005 Lyn joined MIB after a 30 year break from playing.

Doug began his interest in the mandolin in the late 60s
when he bought a cheap plywood instrument. Many years, lessons
and several instruments later he became a founding member
of MIB. Quite independently, Doug's twin brother discovered
mandolins too, and began making them. Doug plays a mandolin
and a mandola made by his brother. He enjoys a wide range
of music and has an interest in instruments and instrument
making. |

Greta Mittelheuser

One of Greta Mittelheuser's fondest memories as a child
is lying on her bed listening to the music of the ' 60's
and '70s played on the radio with the balmy breeze of tropical
Queensland blowing on her face. Music has always been a
part of her.
When Greta was 15 years old she taught herself folk and
country guitar and later learnt classical guitar. She also
sang in the school choir. She enjoys being part of the interweaving
of melodies and harmonies in an orchestra.
Greta has wide musical tastes and particularly likes music
with Celtic, Russian and Flamenco influences. She loves
to be a part of MIB bringing music for the people of Brisbane
to enjoy.

played the mandolin for a short time in the mid sixties while
living overseas, and after studying with MIB for the last
eight years she has now joined MIB as a player in he orchestra.
She finds fellow students to be exceptionally friendly and
supportive. |

San-Joe
has dabbled with a number of different musical instruments.
He started with violin, but also spent much time training
vocally in the St John's Cathedral Choir. He has also ventured
into the woodwind family via the bagpipes, however upon picking
up the mandolin and mandola the string family has been affirmed
as his favourite. Since joining MIB in early 2008, he has
found the callouses returning on the fingers again. |

has been downhill ever since (until now that is!) From the
mid 50's Ron played bass with the best Jazz group in town.
Played warm up for Louis Armstrong, even Dave Brubeck then
