Songs of Love and Obsession

For centuries artists and musicians have been inspired by love to write poems and music and to create paintings and sculptures. Love by its nature involves strong passion and affection and creates deep personal attraction. This concert traces some of its history and includes early medieval and renaissance love songs, as well as famous gems by Mozart, Purcell and Cole Porter. The Orchestra will also perform folksongs, tangos, lullabies and laments, which express the primal, raw emotion of cultures throughout the world and their experience of love. This concert is an opportunity to explore love in all its forms and guises.
